Ronda, this is sooo incredible...This bear standing up and eating your apples, like he owns the place... (and he does!) He really looks harmless here. (I know, I know, he isn't) but he just looks like a cute TEDDY BEAR....this is such a great capture, and in your own front yard! GHeeeze.... F/v

Artist's Description

I was getting ready to bake a cake when I happened to look up from my cookbook. There, helping herself to our bounty, was a black bear. I stopped my task, grabbed the camera, and spent the next few minutes with the bear. First, I shop through the window, then, wanting a closer look I stepped out onto my porch. It was then she spotted me through the branches of the apple tree. It wasn’t long before she ambled on to find a more private “diner,” on free of the paparazzi.

Ronda Broatch

Ronda Broatch is the author of Shedding Our Skins, (Finishing Line Press, 2008), and Some Other Eden, (2005). Nominated several times for the Pushcart, Ronda is the recipient of a 2007 Artist Trust GAP Grant, and is currently Editor for Crab Creek Review. Ronda received degrees in Creative Writing and in Photography from the University of Washington, and later worked for William Thompson Photographs. After a hiatus she returned to photography, and spends her time documenting the secret lives of flowers, preserving wildlife, and capturing poets in their natural habitat for book jackets and promo shots.
