After a friend returned home from 20 years in Arkansas, we took a walk at Point No Point, overlooking the wetland area. Luckily, my camera found this little Gambel's White Crowned Sparrow.
About Ronda Broatch
Ronda Broatch is the author of Shedding Our Skins, (Finishing Line Press, 2008), and Some Other Eden, (2005). Nominated several times for the Pushcart, Ronda is the recipient of a 2007 Artist Trust GAP Grant, and is currently Editor for Crab Creek Review. Ronda received degrees in Creative Writing and in Photography from the University of Washington, and later worked for William Thompson Photographs. After a hiatus she returned to photography, and spends her time documenting the secret lives of flowers, preserving wildlife, and capturing poets in their natural habitat for book jackets and promo shots.

SO this is a Gambel's White Crowned Sparrow? Wow, I don't get these in my yard, but I did take a picture of them downtown. I always call these CITY SPARROWS, just because I didn't know their real name, and I only saw them in more populated areas. It's interesting Ronda, we take so many of the same "SUBJECT MATTERS". So it's fun to see YOUR vantage point on subjects... Wow I just realized this sparrow is sitting in between the thorns of the blackberry bush... Yowie.. Considering his size, if one of those thorns were to go thru him, it would be like us getting stabbed with a piece of rod iron or something... ahhh I digress...great work as always Ronda!
